Kohler 80mm Rebuild Center
The 80mm Kohler Command twins are the 674cc engines. This page covers which engines they are, the part numbers our parts replace, and the checks that get you the right parts the first time.

Check these three things before you order
- Displacement, not just the model number. Kohler changed the CH620 and CH640 from 624cc on a 77mm bore to 674cc on an 80mm bore partway through production, and some CH22, CV22, CV620 and CV640 engines are the 77mm version too. Read the displacement on the engine nameplate, and the model and spec number on the blower housing decal. 674cc is this page. 624cc is the 77mm engine. Where to find the tag
- Bore size. Our 80mm parts are for the 80.00mm standard bore. Measure each bore for size, taper and out of round. A cylinder that has been bored needs oversize parts to match.
- Ring style (ring-only orders). Measure the old top ring or the top piston groove: 1.5mm is Style A, 1.2mm is Style B. Both styles went into the same models, so the model number cannot answer this. A piston-and-ring kit comes matched, so you can skip this one.
Which kit do I need?
- Full rebuild, bore is good: the 80mm rebuild kit (two pistons with rings, gasket set, crankshaft seals and sealer), the rebuild kit with rods and valves, or the complete overhaul kit with valves.
- One cylinder: a standard 80mm piston with rings.
- Re-ring and reseal, pistons are good: the ring and gasket kit in Style A (1.5mm) or Style B (1.2mm).
- Rings only, cylinders are in spec: a Style A or Style B ring set, single or two-pack.
- Head, valve and sump work: intake valves, valve guides and seals, stem seals, valve cover O-rings and the vertical shaft oil pan gasket. Some engines were sealed with RTV and no oil pan gasket, so check your spec number before ordering one.
