Briggs & Stratton Intek V-Twin Rebuild Center
Briggs & Stratton built the Intek OHV V-twin in two sizes, 40 and 44 cubic inch, and they look the same from outside the shroud. This page lists which engines each size covers, the part numbers our parts replace, and the checks that get you the right parts the first time.

| Pistons (44 cu in) | Replaces 793560 or 792023. These are two separate parts, not a supersession. |
| Ring sets | 44 cu in, from code 05071800: 792026 (earlier 793561) 44 cu in, early 446 series: 697683 (1.5mm compression rings) 40 cu in, before code 06082400: 499604 40 cu in, 40F777 and 40H777: 698430 |

| Push rods | Intake 690982 · exhaust 597785 (replaced 690981) |
| Oversizes | We carry standard size only. For a cylinder bored .020, Briggs lists piston 792072 and ring set 792073 (44 cu in) and ring set 499606 (40 cu in). |
Check these four things before you order
- Model, type and code. They're stamped on the blower housing. Go by the model number, not the horsepower or the machine. A 44 cu in piston will not go in a 40 cu in block. Where to find the tag
- Code date (ring-only orders). The code reads year, month, day, so 06082400 is 24 August 2006. On the 44 cu in, 792026 rings are for engines built from 05071800 on. Earlier engines used 697683 or 694004. On the 40 cu in, 499604 is for engines built before 06082400. A piston kit comes with matched rings, so you can skip this one.
- Bore size. Our parts are standard size. Measure each bore for size and taper. If a cylinder has been bored oversize, standard parts will not seal.
- Piston number (44 cu in). If a dealer gave you 792023 and the kit you want ships 793560, ask us before you order.
Which kit do I need?
- 44 cu in full rebuild, bore is good: the overhaul kit with pistons, rings, rods, valves and gaskets, the kit with pistons, rods and gaskets, or the kit with pistons, valves and gaskets.
- 44 cu in rings and reseal: two 792026 ring sets with the 694012 gasket set.
- 44 cu in rings only: 792026 ring sets, one set or two, or 697683 ring sets for early 446 series engines. One set does one cylinder.
- 40 cu in rings and reseal: two 499604 ring sets with the 694012 gasket set.
- 40 cu in rings only: 499604 ring sets, one set or two, or a 698430 ring set for the 40F777 and 40H777.
- Bent push rod: the set of four steel push rods. Check the intake valve guide first. A guide that has walked out of the head is the usual cause.
