Piston with rings plus engine gasket set for the Tecumseh HH120 cast iron engine. WHAT IS IN THE BOX Piston with rings, standard 3-1/2 inch bore - replaces Tecumseh 32238, 32238A and 32238B Engine gasket set - replaces Tecumseh 33237A and 33237B THIS IS THE HH120 PISTON. The HH80 and HH100 are a different bore and take a different piston - this is the most important thing on the page. HH80 and HH100 - bore 3-5/16 inch, 3.312 to 3.313 - piston 32001C - rings 32004 HH120 - bore 3-1/2 inch, 3.500 to 3.501 - piston 32238B - rings 32241 - this kit The gasket set, 33237B, is common to the HH80, HH100 and HH120. The piston is not. If you have an HH100, the gaskets in this kit are right for your engine and the piston is three sixteenths of an inch too big. THE SUFFIX LETTER IS A REVISION, NOT A SIZE. 32238, 32238A and 32238B are the same standard bore piston at three stages. Tecumseh gave oversizes their own numbers: .010 oversize - 32239B - rings 32242 .020 oversize - 32240B - rings 32243 .030 oversize - 32621B - rings 32625 .040 oversize - 32622B - rings 32626 IDENTIFYING THE ENGINE. Model and spec are stamped on the blower housing and read like HH120-120173D. HH120 spec numbers begin 120, HH100 begin 115, HH80 begin 110. ALSO FITS. The same 3-1/2 inch piston is used in the HH150, HH160 and OH160. While the head is off, check the valve seats for recession and the guides for wear, and measure the bore for taper and out-of-round before committing to a standard size piston.

  • FITS THE TECUMSEH HH120 - 3-1/2 inch bore, 2-7/8 inch stroke, 27.66 cubic inches. Piston replaces Tecumseh 32238, 32238A and 32238B, which are three revisions of the same standard bore piston. Gasket set replaces 33237A and 33237B. Supplied as piston with rings plus the engine gasket set.
  • THE HH100 TAKES A DIFFERENT PISTON - READ THIS BEFORE ORDERING - The HH80 and HH100 are 3-5/16 inch bore and take piston 32001C with ring set 32004. The HH120 is 3-1/2 inch and takes 32238B with ring set 32241. That is three sixteenths of an inch between them. The gasket set is common to all three engines, but the piston is not.
  • THE LETTER ON THE PISTON NUMBER IS A REVISION, NOT AN OVERSIZE - 32238, 32238A and 32238B are the same standard bore part at three points in its life. Oversizes get their own base numbers: 32239B is .010, 32240B is .020, 32621B is .030 and 32622B is .040. If your block has been bored, you need one of those, not this.
  • IDENTIFY YOUR ENGINE FROM THE BLOWER HOUSING - The model and spec number are stamped there and read like HH120-120173D. HH120 spec numbers begin 120, HH100 begin 115 and HH80 begin 110. The number on the machine's own tag belongs to whoever built the machine, not to Tecumseh, so work from the engine itself.
  • WHAT ELSE THIS PISTON FITS, AND WHAT TO CHECK - The same 3-1/2 inch piston is used on the HH150, HH160 and OH160. While the head is off, check the valve seats for recession and the guides for wear, roll the push rods on a flat surface, and measure the bore for taper before you commit to a standard piston. Wrist pin and clips are included with the piston.
