50mm Piston and Seal Kit Fits Stihl BR500 BR550 BR600 BR700

A 50mm piston and seal kit for the Stihl BR500, BR550, BR600 and BR700 backpack blowers. The kit contains a 50mm piston with ring set, wrist pin and circlips, two crankshaft seals, the exhaust gasket, the valve cover gasket, a copper washer and a feeler gauge. Valves and crankshaft bearings are not included. It replaces piston kit 4282-030-2003, two crankshaft seals 9639-003-1585, exhaust gasket 4282-149-0600 and valve cover gasket 4282-029-0500. It does not fit the BR800 family, which takes piston 4283-030-2003, or the two-stroke BR340, BR380 and BR420. The seals go in with the piston because a hardened crankshaft seal pulls in air and runs the engine lean, which is the most common way a new piston gets scored. Before installing, check for other air leaks and fuel faults, use a ring compressor, and set the valve clearance with the feeler gauge to the service manual figure.

• REPLACES PISTON KIT 4282-030-2003 - With two crankshaft seals 9639-003-1585, exhaust gasket 4282-149-0600 and valve cover gasket 4282-029-0500. If your parts list shows these numbers, this kit covers them.
• NEW SEALS WITH THE PISTON - On an older blower the crankshaft seals are usually hard. A leaking seal pulls in air, runs the engine lean and scores the new piston, so they go in together.
• BEFORE IT GOES TOGETHER - Find out why the old piston failed: an air leak at a hardened seal or intake boot, a blocked fuel filter or the wrong fuel mix will score a new one. Use a ring compressor and set the valve clearance to the service manual figure.
