Lil Red Barn 54mm Cylinder and Piston Kit with Gaskets and Crank Seals for Stihl 056 Super A complete top end for the 056 SUPER, with the cylinder and exhaust gaskets and both crankshaft seals. Replaces Stihl 1115 030 2003. WHAT IS INCLUDED 54mm cylinder 54mm piston with rings Piston pin and circlips Cylinder base gasket Exhaust gasket Crankshaft seal, clutch side Crankshaft seal, flywheel side WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED The decompression valve, which transfers from the old cylinder, and the muffler gasket. SUPER ONLY - CHECK THE BORE 54mm is the 056 SUPER. The plain 056 and the 056AV are 52mm engines and this cylinder does not fit them. Caliper the old bore before ordering; two millimetres is easily measured and it is the only test that separates the three saws. WHY BOTH SEALS ARE IN THE KIT A hardened crankshaft seal lets air into the crankcase and leans the mixture out, and a new piston will fail the same way the old one did. The symptom reads like a carburetor fault - an idle that will not come down, a saw that revs and hangs - so it is often chased in the wrong place. With the saw already open, both seals are a few minutes' work. BEFORE ASSEMBLY Measure squish with solder through the plug hole. Check ring end gap in the new cylinder. Use a ring compressor, fit the circlips with the open end away from the ports, and pressure and vacuum test the crankcase before reassembly.

  • 54MM TOP END FOR THE 056 SUPER, WITH GASKETS AND BOTH CRANK SEALS - Cylinder, piston, rings, piston pin and circlips, plus the cylinder gasket, the exhaust gasket and both crankshaft seals, clutch side and flywheel side. Replaces Stihl 1115 030 2003. One kit does the whole top end and reseals the crankshaft at the same time, which is the job worth doing in one go.
  • SUPER ONLY - THE PLAIN 056 AND THE 056AV ARE 52MM - This is the 54mm size, and 54mm is the 056 SUPER. A plain 056 and an 056AV are 52mm engines and this cylinder will not fit either of them. Caliper the old bore before ordering; two millimetres is well within reach of any caliper and it is the only test that settles which of the three saws you have in front of you.
  • WHAT IS IN THE BOX, BY PART - 54mm cylinder; 54mm piston with rings, piston pin and circlips; cylinder base gasket; exhaust gasket; crankshaft seal, clutch side; crankshaft seal, flywheel side. All from the 1115 parts list for this saw. Not included: the decompression valve, which transfers from the old cylinder, and the muffler gasket if yours is perished.
  • RESEAL THE CRANKSHAFT WHILE THE SAW IS OPEN - Both seals are in this kit for a reason. A hardened crank seal lets air past, leans the mixture out, and the new piston goes the same way the old one did. The symptom is easily mistaken for a carburetor fault - a high idle that will not come down, a saw that revs up and hangs - so it gets chased in the wrong place for weeks.
  • BEFORE ANYTHING GOES TOGETHER - Measure squish with solder crushed through the plug hole at four points around the piston, turning the engine through top dead centre by hand. Check ring end gap in this cylinder rather than the old one. Use a ring compressor, fit the circlips with the open end away from the ports, and pressure and vacuum test the crankcase before you put the saw back together - that is what tells you the new seals are doing their job.
