50mm Piston Kit 10mm Pin 1128-030-2000 Fits Stihl 044

50mm piston kit with a 10mm wrist pin that fits the early Stihl 044 chainsaw, up to serial number X29 583 701. Replaces part number 1128-030-2000 (1128 030 2000). Later 044 and MS440 saws take a 12mm wrist pin and piston 1128-030-2015, so measure the pin out of your old piston before ordering. On assembly, use a ring compressor, since rings forced in by hand break piston lands, and seat the circlips fully. Find the cause of the old failure first: pressure and vacuum test the crankcase and check the intake boot and impulse line.

• MEASURE THE PIN BEFORE YOU ORDER - Pull the wrist pin out of your old piston and measure it. A 10mm pin takes this kit; a 12mm pin takes the later piston.
• ON ASSEMBLY - Use a ring compressor to fit the piston; rings forced in by hand break piston lands before the engine has run. Fit the circlips fully into their grooves with the openings away from the slot.
• FIND OUT WHY THE OLD ONE FAILED - A hardened crankshaft seal, a split intake boot or impulse line leans the mixture and will score the new piston the same way. Pressure and vacuum test the crankcase before the saw runs.
