Starter rewind spring for McCulloch chainsaws. Replaces McCulloch 87680, full factory number 087680-00, and the earlier 83334. WHAT IT DOES. This is the flat coiled spring inside the starter housing that returns the rope after each pull. A rope that will not retract, a handle that hangs loose, or a starter that pulls but never recoils is usually a broken rewind spring. FITS Pro Mac 10-10, Pro Mac 10-10S, 1010S Pro Mac 555, 570, 605, 610, 650, Super 610 Pro Mac 700, 800, 805, 850 Mac 55, Mac 60, Pro Mac 60 Super Pro 60, Super Pro 70, Super Pro 80, Super Pro 81 Timber Bear, Model 7-10A, 5700, 8200 Eager Beaver 3.7 McCulloch used one rewind spring across the 10 Series, the 600 series, the 800 series and the Super Pro line - roughly twenty years and two chassis generations on one part. THE EAGER BEAVER TRAP. Eager Beaver is a badge, not a chassis, and McCulloch put it on two unrelated saws. The Eager Beaver 3.7 is a 600 series saw and takes this spring. The Eager Beaver 2.0 and 2.1 are Mini Mac saws and take spring 83078. If the cover just says Eager Beaver, check the displacement before you order. PRO MAC IS NOT POWER MAC. Pro Mac is the mid and professional range. Power Mac - 6, 310, 320, 330, 340 - is the lighter consumer line and does not take this spring. You will see dealer pages that mix the two up. PM610, PM555 and PM60 are just dealer shorthand for the Pro Mac versions. FITTING. The spring is under tension and will unwind fast if it gets away from you. Housing flat on the bench, safety glasses on, feed from the outer end, and set the preload before knotting the rope.

  • STARTER REWIND SPRING - McCulloch 87680, also written 087680-00, and the earlier number 83334. This is the flat coiled spring that pulls the starter rope back in. When the rope goes slack and stays out, or the handle will not return, this is the part.
  • FITS A LONG LIST OF McCULLOCH SAWS - Pro Mac 10-10 and 10-10S, Pro Mac 555, 570, 605, 610, 650, 700, 800, 805, 850, Super 610, Mac 55, Mac 60, Pro Mac 60, Super Pro 60, Super Pro 70, Super Pro 80, Super Pro 81, Timber Bear, Model 7-10A, 1010S, 5700 and 8200. McCulloch used one rewind spring across the 10 Series, the 600s, the 800s and the Super Pro line.
  • EAGER BEAVER 3.7 ONLY - NOT THE 2.0 OR 2.1 - This is the one that catches people. The Eager Beaver 3.7 is built on the 600 series chassis and takes this spring. The Eager Beaver 2.0 and 2.1 are Mini Mac chassis saws and take a different spring entirely, 83078. If your saw just says Eager Beaver on the cover, find the displacement before ordering.
  • PRO MAC, NOT POWER MAC - These are different lines and the names get mixed up constantly, including by parts sellers. Pro Mac is the mid and professional range - 555, 605, 610, 10-10, 700, 850. Power Mac is the lighter consumer line - 310, 320, 330, 340 - and this spring is not for those. PM610 and PM555 are dealer shorthand for Pro Mac 610 and Pro Mac 555.
  • FITTING IT WITHOUT LOSING A FINGER - A rewind spring is under real tension and will come out of the housing at speed if you let it go. Work with the housing flat on the bench, wear safety glasses, and feed the spring in from the outer end. Wind the preload on before you knot the rope, not after. A smear of light grease on the spring helps it lie flat and stops it squealing.
