Standard bore piston ring set for the Kawasaki 726cc twin cylinder engines, 78.0mm or 3.071 inch, replacing Kawasaki part number 13008-0569. One set covers one cylinder, so a twin cylinder engine requires two sets. Fits FR651V, FR691V, FR730V, FS651V, FS691V, FS730V, FX651V, FX691V and FX730V. Take care with the neighboring sizes: the 603cc FR600V and FS600V are 73mm and the 852cc FX801V and FX850V are 84.5mm, and neither takes this ring set. Identify the engine by the model number on the shroud. This is the standard size set for a cylinder still within service limits. Measure the bore before ordering and hone the cylinder before assembly so the new rings have a crosshatch to bed into.
- FITS THE KAWASAKI 726cc TWINS at 78.0mm bore, 3.071 inch: FR651V, FR691V, FR730V, FS651V, FS691V, FS730V, FX651V, FX691V and FX730V. Replaces Kawasaki 13008-0569. These engines start burning oil and pushing blowby out the breather when the rings lose tension, usually after long hours on a commercial deck.
- ONE SET, ONE CYLINDER. Kawasaki packages these rings per piston, so a twin needs two sets. Order both before you split the engine down, because a machine sitting half apart waiting on a second ring set is a machine not earning.
- CHECK THE DISPLACEMENT, NOT JUST THE SERIES. The FR and FS and FX families each span several sizes. The 603cc FR600V and FS600V are 73mm and take different rings, and the 852cc FX801V and FX850V are 84.5mm. Only the 726cc engines listed above are 78mm. The model number on the engine shroud settles it.
- STANDARD BORE. This set is for a cylinder still at 78.0mm and within service limits. If the block has been bored, order the matching oversize set instead and measure the finished bore rather than assuming the last person left it standard.
- WHEN RINGS WILL FIX IT. Rings cure oil consumption and blowby on a bore that is still round, within taper and showing crosshatch. On a scored or glazed cylinder they will not seal and the problem returns within a season. Measure the bore, hone it before assembly, and stagger the ring end gaps around the piston.
