Piston Rings 499631 Fits Briggs 6HP Horizontal Intek

Piston ring set that fits the Briggs 6 HP horizontal shaft Intek engines. Replaces ring set 499631. Read the model, type and code numbers on the engine before ordering. These are standard size rings for a cylinder within its wear limits; a scored, out-of-round or worn-out bore needs machining and an oversize piston. New rings cure smoke, oil use and low compression on a bore that is still round with a crosshatch. Check end gap in the bore, fit the rings marking up, stagger the gaps and use a ring compressor. Piston, pin and gaskets are not included.

• STANDARD BORE - MEASURE FIRST - For a cylinder within its wear limits. A bore that is scored, out of round or worn past its limit needs machining and an oversize piston, not new rings.
• WHEN RINGS ARE THE ANSWER - Blue smoke, oil use and low compression on a bore that is still round with a visible crosshatch. A glazed or scored cylinder will not seal against new rings.
• FITTING THEM - Check end gap with each ring squared in the bore, fit each ring with any marking facing up, stagger the gaps, hone for a crosshatch and use a ring compressor. Piston, pin and gaskets are not included.
