Std Piston and Rings 112-0264 Fits Onan P216 P218 P220 B43
Standard bore piston with matched ring set that fits Onan B43, B48, P216, P218 and P220 engines. Replaces part number 112-0264. Standard bore is 3.250 inches. If the engine has been rebuilt previously it may already be at 0.010, 0.020 or 0.030 oversize, and a standard piston will not seal correctly in it. Measure the cylinder with a telescoping gauge before ordering. A bored cylinder needs the matching oversize piston. On a twin-cylinder engine a weight difference between the two pistons unbalances the crankshaft and produces vibration that shortens main bearing life, so matched weight matters more here than it would on a single. This listing supplies one piston with its ring set. A complete rebuild on these engines requires two. Deglaze the cylinder with a hone before assembly so the new rings can seat, and inspect the connecting rod bore and crankshaft journal while the engine is apart.
- FITS ONAN B43, B48, P216, P218 AND P220 ENGINES at standard 3.250 inch bore. These twin-cylinder engines powered garden tractors, generators and welders through the 1970s and 1980s. This is a standard bore piston with a matched ring set, for a rebuild where the cylinder still measures within service limits.
- PART NUMBER 112-0264. The B43, B48, P216, P218 and P220 share components across several models, so the number on your parts diagram identifies the correct piston. Check the rod bore and crankshaft journal while the engine is apart, and check ring end gap in the bore with a feeler gauge before assembly.
- STANDARD BORE 3.250 INCHES - CHECK YOUR CYLINDER FIRST. This is the standard-size piston. If your engine has been rebuilt before it may already be at 0.010, 0.020 or 0.030 oversize, and a standard piston will not seal in an oversized cylinder. Measure the bore with a telescoping gauge before ordering. A bored cylinder needs the matching oversize piston.
- WEIGHT MATTERS ON A TWIN. A weight difference between the two pistons puts the crankshaft out of balance and produces vibration that shortens main bearing life. Weigh both pistons before assembly and confirm they match each other.
- SOLD AS ONE PISTON WITH RINGS. These are twin-cylinder engines, so a full rebuild needs two. Order accordingly. Deglaze the cylinder with a hone before assembly so the new rings have something to seat against, and lay the two pistons on a scale to confirm they match before either goes in.
