Motion control dampener for Husqvarna Z and CZ series zero turn mowers. Replaces 539108793. HOW MANY YOU NEED These machines use TWO, one on each side of the motion control assembly. This listing is for one dampener, so order quantity two if you are replacing both sides. If only one side has failed you can replace one, but the two lap bars will not feel identical until both are the same age. WHAT IT IS AND WHERE IT GOES This is the dampener on the motion control assembly - the linkage behind the steering lap bars. It damps lap bar movement and the return to neutral action. It is NOT an engine vibration isolator, NOT a transaxle or pump mount, and NOT a deck dampener. If your problem is vibration through the frame or a deck that hangs unevenly, this is not the part you are looking for. PART NUMBERS 539108793 - this dampener 539108072 - dampener bracket, two per machine, sold separately 539102720 - a DIFFERENT dampener fitted to other machines in the same range. Not interchangeable with this one. MODELS. Z4217, Z4218, Z4219, Z3815, Z4822, Z4824, Z5426, CZ3815, CZ4217, CZ42175, CZ4815, CZ4817 and CZ4818. CHECK YOUR SPEC NUMBER. These machines ran for several years and not every machine wearing the same model name uses the same dampener - at least one 48 inch machine in this range uses 539102720 in the same bracket position instead. The spec number is on the machine's serial plate. Match it against your own parts diagram before you order, especially on the 48 inch units. WHAT WEAR FEELS LIKE Lap bars that feel loose, notchy or uneven side to side. Bars that slam at the end of their travel instead of being cushioned. A machine that no longer settles cleanly back to neutral. Before you order, also check the bracket for distortion and the pivot points for play, because a worn pivot gives much the same feel from the seat and replacing the dampener will not cure it. FITTING NOTES Work on one side at a time so you have the other side as a reference for how it goes back. Check the bracket holes for wear. An oval hole will let a new dampener knock. Set both sides the same and check the neutral position afterwards with the machine safely raised and the drive wheels clear.
