Cylinder and exhaust gasket set for the Husqvarna K960 and K970 cut-off saws. The set contains one cylinder base gasket and one exhaust gasket - the two gaskets a top end strip needs. It is not a complete engine gasket kit and does not include crankcase gaskets, carburetor gaskets or seals. Both machines use the same 94cc engine and the same 56mm cylinder. A cylinder base gasket costs very little and is the most expensive thing in the job to re-use, because a gasket that has been crushed once will not seal the same way twice, and an air leak at the cylinder base leans the mixture and scores a piston a few tanks later. Check the muffler flange is flat before reassembly and retorque the muffler bolts after the first heat cycle.

  • CYLINDER AND EXHAUST GASKETS FOR THE HUSQVARNA K960 AND K970 - The two gaskets you need whenever the cylinder comes off these cut-off saws. Both machines run the same 94cc engine and the same 56mm cylinder, so a top end strip on either one wants this pair.
  • WHAT IS IN THE SET - One cylinder base gasket and one exhaust gasket. It is not a full engine gasket kit - there is no crankcase gasket, no carburetor gasket and no seals, so if you are splitting the cases you need more than this. This is the gasket pair that goes with our 56mm cylinder and piston kit, part number 544935603, and you want both on the bench before you start.
  • REPLACE BOTH, NOT ONE - A cylinder base gasket costs very little and is the most expensive thing in the job to re-use. These engines pull hard in dust and heat, and a base gasket that has been crushed once will not seal the same way twice. An air leak at the base is a lean mixture and a scored piston a few tanks later.
  • GET THE EXHAUST GASKET SEATED PROPERLY - The exhaust gasket on these machines takes heat and vibration from a cutting disc, which is a harder life than a chainsaw muffler gets. Check the muffler flange is flat before it goes back, and retorque the muffler bolts after the first heat cycle - they loosen, and a leaking exhaust flange will crack the gasket again.
  • WHILE THE CYLINDER IS OFF - Look at the piston skirt and the exhaust side of the bore for scoring, check the ring end gap if the rings are staying in, and inspect the crankshaft seals. On a cut-off saw the air filter is doing the hardest job of any part on the machine, so if there is dust in the intake tract, find where it is getting in before the engine goes back together.
