Crankshaft Seal Set Fits Stihl 034 034 Super 036 MS360

Both crankshaft seals that fit the Stihl 034, 034 Super, 036 and MS360 chainsaws: the clutch side seal replaces 9640-003-1600 and the flywheel side seal replaces 9640-003-1190. A hard or cracked seal lets air into the crankcase, and the saw runs lean, will not hold an idle and eventually scores its piston. Note which way the lip faces, press the new seals in square, oil the lips, and pressure and vacuum test the crankcase before running the saw.

• BOTH CRANKSHAFT SEALS - Clutch side seal replaces 9640-003-1600. Flywheel side seal replaces 9640-003-1190. They are different sizes, so note which end each came from.
• FITS STIHL 034, 034 SUPER, 036 AND MS360 CHAINSAWS - Compare the old seals with these before fitting.
• WHY SEALS GO - A hard or cracked crankshaft seal lets air into the crankcase. The saw runs lean, will not hold an idle or a tune, revs and hangs, and in time scores its piston. It gets chased at the carburetor for weeks before anyone pressure tests the crankcase.
• REPLACE BOTH SIDES TOGETHER - An engine that needed one seal usually has the other hardening alongside it, from the same hours and the same heat. The second one costs very little while the saw is already open.
• FITTING THEM - Note which way the lip faces, pull the old seal without levering on the bearing, and press the new one in square on its outer edge. Oil the lip before the crankshaft goes through, then pressure and vacuum test the crankcase.
