Gasket Set Seals 47-755-08-S Fits Kohler K241 K301
Overhaul gasket set with both crankshaft oil seals that fits the cast iron Kohler K241, K301 and K321 single cylinder engines, replacing 47-755-08-S. One set covers all three engines because they share a stroke, block family, bearing plate and head bolt pattern, and the head gasket opening clears the largest of the three bores. All suffixes are covered, including K301A, K301S, K301AS and K301AQS. Important exclusion: this is not the set for a K341. The K341 is a 3.75 inch bore engine taking gasket set 45-755-04-S with head gasket 45-041-17-S. Bores across the family are K241 3.25 inches, K301 3.375, K321 3.50 and K341 3.75. The two crankshaft seals are different parts, 47-032-06-S and 47-032-07-S, one for the power take off end and one for the flywheel end, and both are supplied here. Note that 52-032-08-S is a seal for the later overhead valve twins and does not belong on a cast iron K engine. Contents: head gasket, which on these engines is 47-041-10-S or 47-041-15-S, bearing plate gasket, oil pan gasket, breather and valve cover gaskets, intake and exhaust gaskets, sealing washers and both crankshaft seals. Not included: valves, guides, rings, pistons or bearings. Torque figures from the factory fastener sheet: connecting rod capscrew 285 inch pounds on the K241 through K341 with threads oiled, overtorqued twenty percent then slackened and retorqued; a new Posi-Lock rod 260 inch pounds or 200 reused; spark plug 18 to 22 foot pounds; flywheel nut 50 to 60 foot pounds and the flywheel retaining screw 22 to 27; cast iron oil pan 35 foot pounds. Use the head bolt torque and valve lash figures from the service manual for your own engine.
- OVERHAUL GASKET SET WITH BOTH CRANKSHAFT SEALS - Replaces 47-755-08-S, the overhaul gasket set for the cast iron K241, K301 and K321 singles, with both crankshaft oil seals included. One set does all three engines because they share a stroke, a block family, a bearing plate and a head bolt pattern - the head gasket opening clears the largest of the three bores. Covers every suffix, so a K301A, K301S, K301AS or K301AQS all take this set.
- DO NOT ORDER THIS FOR A K341 - The K341 is 3.75 inch bore and takes its own gasket set, 45-755-04-S, with a different head gasket, 45-041-17-S. The bores across the family are K241 at 3.25 inches, K301 at 3.375, K321 at 3.50 and K341 at 3.75. If the engine in front of you is a 341 or a 16 horsepower, stop here and buy the 45-755 set instead.
- THE SEALS ARE TWO DIFFERENT PARTS, ONE PER END - The parts list shows 47-032-06-S and 47-032-07-S, one for the power take off end and one for the flywheel end, and they are not the same size. Both are in this set, so there is nothing to work out. One number to avoid: 52-032-08-S is a seal for the later overhead valve twins and does not belong on a cast iron K. If you are buying seals separately rather than in a set, check which end each one is for before pressing either in.
- WHAT IS IN A FULL SET - Head gasket, which on these engines is 47-041-10-S or 47-041-15-S, bearing plate gasket, oil pan gasket, breather and valve cover gaskets, intake and exhaust gaskets, the smaller sealing washers, and both crankshaft seals. That is enough to put a K series back together after a bore and a valve job. Not included: valves, guides, rings, pistons or bearings. Those are separate and the kit is not a short block.
- TORQUE FIGURES FROM THE FACTORY FASTENER SHEET - Connecting rod capscrew 285 inch pounds with the threads oiled; the factory method is to overtorque twenty percent, slacken, and retorque. A new Posi-Lock rod is 260 inch pounds, or 200 reused. Spark plug 18 to 22 foot pounds. Flywheel nut 50 to 60 foot pounds and the retaining screw 22 to 27. Cast iron oil pan 35 foot pounds. Take head bolt torque and valve lash from the service manual for your own engine rather than from a forum.
