Crank Seal Gasket Kit Fits Husqvarna 455 Rancher 460 461
Crankshaft seal and cylinder gasket kit that fits Husqvarna 455, 455E, 455 Rancher, 455 Rancher II, 455E Rancher II, 460, 460 Rancher, 461 and 465 Rancher II chainsaws, and the Jonsered CS2255. The kit contains five pieces: two cylinder gaskets, two crankshaft oil seals and one muffler gasket. Together these are the soft parts disturbed during a top-end teardown, so the saw goes back together in one pass. Replaces part numbers 537245701, 537245801, 537287701 and 503261901. These appear on parts diagrams in spaced form as 537 24 57-01, 537 24 58-01, 537 28 77-01 and 503 26 19-01. Worn crankshaft seals are a common cause of lean running on these saws, because unmetered air enters through the crankcase rather than the carburetor. Replacing the seals and gaskets as a set during any cylinder or piston job is standard practice and avoids a repeat teardown. Pressure and vacuum testing the crankcase before final assembly is recommended.
- FITS HUSQVARNA 455, 455E, 455 Rancher, 455 Rancher II, 455E Rancher II, 460, 460 Rancher, 461 and 465 Rancher II chainsaws, and fits the Jonsered CS2255. If you are doing a top-end teardown on any of these saws - pulling the cylinder, replacing a piston, or chasing down an air leak - this is the gasket and seal set that job calls for. Both crankshaft seals are in the kit, so you are not splitting the crankcase a second time to finish what you started.
- FIVE PIECES, EVERYTHING THE JOB DISTURBS: two cylinder gaskets, two crankshaft oil seals and one muffler gasket. That covers every soft part you break loose taking the top end off a 455 or 460, including the muffler gasket most sets leave out. Nothing to source separately and no second order placed while the saw sits in pieces on your bench waiting on the mail.
- REPLACES PART NUMBERS 537245701 (537 24 57-01), 537245801 (537 24 58-01), 537287701 (537 28 77-01) and 503261901 (503 26 19-01). Match any one of those numbers off your old part or off your parts diagram and you have the right kit. These numbers are printed several different ways depending on the year the saw was built, so any of those formats counts as a match.
- NOT THE SAME AS A SEALS-ONLY SET. The two-piece crankshaft seal listings cover the seals alone and leave you without cylinder or muffler gaskets, which means a second order placed in the middle of the repair. Check your model as well: sets sold for the 445, 445E and 450 use a different cylinder gasket and will not seal correctly on a 455 or a 460, no matter how close they look side by side.
- AIR LEAKS ARE WHAT KILL THESE SAWS. Worn crankshaft seals let unmetered air into the crankcase, the saw runs lean, and a lean 455 cooks a piston. Replacing seals and gaskets together at teardown is cheap insurance against doing the whole job twice. Have a seal driver and a high-temp gasket sealant on the bench, and pressure-test the crankcase before you button it up.
