Echo CS-8000 QV-8000 Piston Kit 52mm Pin Clips 1000033083
Piston kit for the Echo CS-8000 and QV-8000 chainsaws, 52mm bore, 80.7cc. Replaces Echo part number 1000033083. The same 52mm bore and the same piston also cover the CS-800P, CS-8001 and CS-8002. CONTENTS, AND WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED. Piston, rings, wrist pin and circlips. The cylinder is not included. Echo lists a complete cylinder and piston assembly under its own part number at several times the price of a piston kit, and that is the part you need if the bore is scored or the plating has lifted. Gaskets and crankshaft seals are not included and both are worth replacing while the engine is open. ORDER BY TYPE, NOT BY THE OLD BOX. This saw has been in production since 1986 and the cylinder went through more than one revision, changing port layout and combustion chamber shape while the bore stayed at 52mm. Echo splits the parts catalogue into an original version and a Type 1E version, and there is more than one superseded piston number in circulation. Match by the type designation and serial number on the saw. BEFORE REASSEMBLY. A scored bore is a symptom. On a saw of this displacement the cause is usually a lean mixture from a hardened crankshaft seal, a split or perished impulse line, or a loose intake boot. Pressure and vacuum test the crankcase and fix the leak before the new piston goes in. ON ASSEMBLY. Check ring end gap in the cylinder the rings will run in, and side clearance in the piston grooves. Hone the bore lightly. Use a ring compressor, fit the circlips with the open end turned away from the ports, and turn the engine over by hand before you start it.
- 52MM PISTON KIT FOR THE ECHO CS-8000 AND QV-8000 - Piston, rings, wrist pin and circlips for the 80.7cc saw, replacing Echo part number 1000033083. This is the repair for a saw that has lost compression or scored its bore. The same 52mm bore runs through the CS-800P, CS-8001 and CS-8002 as well.
- THIS IS THE PISTON KIT, NOT THE CYLINDER KIT - The cylinder is NOT included. Echo sells a complete cylinder and piston assembly under a separate number and at several times this price. If your bore is scored or the plating has lifted, you need that one, and a piston on its own will not fix it. Look down the bore before you order.
- THE BORE IS THE SAME, THE CYLINDER IS NOT - Echo built this saw from 1986 on and the cylinder changed more than once, in port layout and combustion chamber shape, while the bore stayed at 52mm throughout. Order by the type designation and serial number on your saw rather than by the number printed on an old box.
- FIND OUT WHY THE OLD ONE FAILED - A scored piston on a saw this size is nearly always a lean mixture, and the usual causes are a hardened crankshaft seal, a split impulse line or a loose intake boot. Pressure and vacuum test the crankcase before reassembly. Fit a new piston to the same air leak and you will be back here.
- ON ASSEMBLY - Check ring end gap in this cylinder rather than the old one, and side clearance in the piston grooves. Hone the bore lightly so the rings have a surface to bed into. Use a ring compressor, fit the circlips with the open end away from the ports, and turn the engine over by hand before the first start.
