Chrome Piston Ring Set for Briggs & Stratton 7–8 HP L-Head Engines (3.0 Inch Bore) This is one standard-bore chrome piston ring set for the single-cylinder Briggs & Stratton 7 to 8 HP L-head (flathead) engine, sized for the 3.0 inch (76.2 mm) bore. The rings are chrome-faced and replace Briggs part number 299743, along with the superseded 391669, 393881, 499921, and 690014. One set covers one engine. Fitment Fits Briggs & Stratton 17 and 19 series engines - model numbers beginning with 17 and 19 - rated 7 to 8.5 HP, with a 3.0 inch bore. These are for L-head engines only, not overhead-valve (OHV) engines. The 17 and 19 series ran a long time in many variations, so confirm the model and type number on the blower housing and a 3.0 inch bore before ordering. Standard Bore and Assembly This set is for a cylinder at the standard 3.0 inch bore. For a cylinder machined oversize, order the matching oversize ring set. Use a piston ring compressor to seat the rings, and check the ring end gap before assembly.

  • Standard 3.0 inch (76.2 mm) bore. If the cylinder has been bored oversize, order the matching oversize ring set instead. Find the model and type number on the engine's blower housing and confirm the 3.0 inch bore before ordering.
  • These are chrome-faced rings, commonly used when reringing a serviceable standard-bore cylinder. Use a piston ring compressor to seat the rings during installation, and check the ring end gap before assembly.
  • This engine family is also served by piston and gasket parts for the Briggs 7 to 8 HP L-head. Confirm your model and type number, since the 17 and 19 series were produced in many variations over a long run.
