The 041 Super - badged 041 AVSEQ, 041 AV Super or 041S - is 48mm and 72cc and takes a different cylinder and piston entirely. An S in the suffix is the tell. If your nameplate has one, this is not your part. If you cannot read the plate, measure the bore. THE MODEL LETTERS. AV is the anti-vibration mounting, which the 041 introduced as standard equipment in 1967. Q is the Quickstop chain brake. E is electronic ignition. FB is the farm saw version. G is the gear drive version. S is the Super. Only the S changes the bore. THE PLATED BORE. This cylinder is plated with nickel silicon carbide rather than running on bare metal. It wants a light scuff to give the ring a surface to bed into, not a coarse hone. Cutting through the plating with a stone is not recoverable. WHAT IS IN THE KIT, AND WHAT IS NOT. Cylinder and piston. Gaskets and crankshaft seals are not included and both are worth replacing on a saw of this age while it is open on the bench. BEFORE REASSEMBLY. On a saw this old the crankshaft seals have usually hardened whether the saw has run or not, and a hardened seal leans the mixture out and takes a new piston with it. A perished impulse line and a loose intake boot do the same thing. Pressure and vacuum test the crankcase and fix what you find.
