Cylinder and piston kit, 48mm, for the Stihl 034, 034 Super and 036. Replaces Stihl part number 1125-020-1202. Contents: cylinder, piston, two piston rings, wrist pin and circlips. Read this before ordering. Stihl built the 034 in two bores. The general-market 034 is 48mm and uses 1125-020-1202, which is this kit. The Canadian-market 034 is 46mm and uses 1125-020-1209. Same model name on the saw, different bore, and the two do not interchange. If the number in your parts diagram is 1209, this is not your part. The 034 Super is 48mm. The 036 and MS360 are 48mm. What does interchange is everything inside the cylinder. Piston 1125-030-2001 and ring 1125-034-3001 - two rings per piston - are common to the 034, 034 Super, 036 and MS360. The cylinder assemblies themselves carry different part numbers; the 036 and MS360 cylinder is 1125-020-1215. Two more things worth checking. Decompression port: some cylinders in this family are cast with a port for a compression release valve and some are not. Match it to the saw you are building, or you will be plugging a hole or missing a fitting. Base gasket thickness: Stihl supplies 1119-029-2301 at 0.5mm and 1125-029-2301 at 1mm. Stihl's own parts list describes the 1mm one as low compression, so grabbing it by accident on a rebuild costs you compression you meant to have. Most rebuilds want the 0.5mm gasket. The muffler gasket is 1125-149-0601. Gaskets, crankshaft seals, main bearings and the piston needle bearing are not included in this kit.
- 48MM CYLINDER AND PISTON KIT - Replaces Stihl part number 1125-020-1202. Cylinder, piston, two piston rings, wrist pin and circlips. Fits the 034, the 034 Super and the 036.
- 1125-020-1209 IS A DIFFERENT PART - DO NOT ORDER THIS FOR IT - 1209 is the 46mm cylinder fitted to the Canadian-market 034. Same saw name, smaller bore, and a 48mm kit will not serve it. If your parts diagram shows 1209, you need a 46mm kit, not this one.
- THE PISTON AND RINGS ARE COMMON ACROSS THE 48MM SAWS - Piston 1125-030-2001 and ring 1125-034-3001, two rings per piston, are shared by the 034, 034 Super, 036 and MS360. The cylinder assemblies carry different numbers - the MS360 and 036 use 1125-020-1215 - but what goes inside them is the same.
- MATCH THE DECOMPRESSION PORT TO YOUR SAW - Some of these cylinders are cast with a port for a compression release valve and some are not. If your saw has a decomp valve, you need a cylinder with the port. If it does not, a ported cylinder leaves you with an open hole to plug. Check before you order.
- BASE GASKET THICKNESS CHANGES YOUR COMPRESSION - Stihl supplies two: 1119-029-2301 at 0.5mm and 1125-029-2301 at 1mm, which Stihl's own parts list labels low compression. Most rebuilds want the 0.5mm. Muffler gasket is 1125-149-0601. Gaskets, crank seals, bearings and the needle bearing are not included in this kit.
