Two standard piston ring sets for the Kawasaki FH430V and FH381V V twin. 65mm bore. Replaces 13008-7001. QUANTITY AND WHY IT IS TWO These are 90 degree V twins with two cylinders. One ring set covers one cylinder, so a complete rebuild takes two, and two are supplied here. Both sets are the same part number - Kawasaki lists one standard ring set for this engine and the engine needs it twice. PART NUMBERS 13008-7001 - current standard ring set, supplied here 13008-6030 - the earlier number this one replaces 13001-7009 - matching standard piston 13002-7001 - piston pin 13025-7003 - oversize ring set, plus 0.50mm, NOT supplied here 13029-7005 - oversize piston, plus 0.50mm SPECIFICATION Bore - 65mm, standard Stroke - 65mm Displacement - 431cc, 26.3 cubic inches Configuration - 90 degree V twin, overhead valve, air cooled, vertical shaft MODELS. FH430V and FH381V. Both are 431cc. The model number on these engines is not the displacement - FH381V and FH430V share the same 431cc engine and differ in power rating, the same way several other Kawasaki pairs do. The same 65mm ring set is also catalogued for the FJ180V and the FC150V. STANDARD SIZE ONLY. If a cylinder has been bored oversize you need 13025-7003 rather than this set. Standard rings in an oversize bore will not seal and cannot be returned once they have been fitted. A bored cylinder measures 65.48 to 65.50mm. GETTING NEW RINGS TO SEAT Check both bores for taper and for glaze before you start. New rings will not bed into a glazed bore and the engine will smoke and pass oil. Hone lightly if the bore is only glazed, then wash it out with hot soapy water and dry it. Honing grit left behind will destroy new rings quickly. Check ring end gap in the bore each set will run in. Do not assume both cylinders measure the same. Check side clearance in the piston ring grooves. Worn grooves pass oil with new rings fitted. Fit the oil control ring assembly in the correct order and make sure the expander ends butt rather than overlap.
- TWO SETS, ONE PER CYLINDER - These engines are V twins, so a full rebuild needs two ring sets and two are supplied. Both sets are the same part - there is one standard ring set for this engine, and you need it twice. One purchase does the whole engine.
- REPLACES 13008-7001 AND THE EARLIER 13008-6030 - Standard size for a 65mm bore. If your parts list shows 13008-6030, this is the number it became. The matching standard piston is 13001-7009 and the pin is 13002-7001.
- FITS FH430V AND FH381V - Both are 431cc 90 degree V twins, overhead valve, air cooled, vertical shaft, bore and stroke 65mm by 65mm. The model numbers are not displacements on these engines - FH381V and FH430V are the same 431cc and differ in power rating, so do not let the 381 in the name talk you out of it. The same ring set also covers the 65mm FJ180V and FC150V.
- STANDARD SIZE - MEASURE IF THE BLOCK HAS BEEN MACHINED - These are standard rings for a 65mm bore. If a cylinder has been bored, the oversize ring set is 13025-7003 at plus 0.50mm and it is not what ships here. Standard rings in an oversize bore will not seal, and rings cannot be returned once fitted.
- MAKE THEM SEAT - New rings will not bed into a glazed bore. Check each cylinder for taper and glaze, hone lightly if it is only glazed, and wash both bores out with hot soapy water afterwards to carry the grit clear. Check ring end gap in the bore each set will actually run in, and check side clearance in the piston grooves - worn grooves pass oil however new the rings are.
