Service kit for the Stihl 1113 series chainsaws: the 030 and 030AV, the 031 and 031AV, and the 032 and 032AV. Contents are a complete air filter assembly replacing Stihl 1113 120 1603, an in tank fuel filter replacing 1115 350 3503, and one spark plug cross referencing to WSR6F, BPMR7A and RCJ6Y, which gaps at 0.5mm or twenty thousandths of an inch. The air filter supplied is the complete assembly rather than a single half; the halves carry their own numbers, 1113 120 1612 front and 1113 120 1602 back. Stihl kept one air filter number across the whole production run while the medium itself changed from wire mesh to a flocked nylon and then to a woven fleece. The fleece type is what ships and it covers the entire run, so there is nothing to match before ordering. Fit the air filter dry; it is not an oiled filter. Displacements for reference: 030 at 45cc, 031 at 48.7cc, 032 at 50.9cc, all built between 1970 and 1985. When you change the fuel filter, inspect the fuel line at the same time, because a hardened line splits at the tank grommet and causes the same lean running as a blocked filter. Blow out the air filter housing before the new element goes in. Gap the plug on the bench rather than trusting the box, and remember that plug gap and ignition point gap are two different adjustments on a points saw.
- THE THREE PARTS THESE SAWS ACTUALLY WANT - A complete air filter assembly, an in tank fuel filter and a spark plug, for the Stihl 030, 030AV, 031, 031AV and 032. If a saw of this age is hard to start, four stroking at full throttle or dying under load, these three are where the fault usually is. Nothing in this kit needs measuring and nothing needs the saw split.
- WHAT IS IN THE KIT, WITH THE NUMBERS - Air filter assembly replacing Stihl 1113 120 1603, the complete filter rather than one half of it. The two halves carry their own numbers, 1113 120 1612 for the front and 1113 120 1602 for the back, and this supplies the assembly. In tank fuel filter replacing 1115 350 3503, which Stihl used across a wide run of saws from this era. One spark plug, cross referencing to WSR6F, BPMR7A and RCJ6Y, gapped at 0.5mm, which is twenty thousandths of an inch.
- FITS THE 1113 SERIES SAWS - The 030 and 030AV at 45cc, the 031 and 031AV at 48.7cc, and the 032 and 032AV at 50.9cc. All three are the Stihl 1113 series, built between 1970 and 1985, and they share the filter and plug hardware even though the displacements differ. If the saw in front of you is one of those, this kit fits it. The 020, 041 and 045 are different saws, although the fuel filter number is shared with several of them.
- THE AIR FILTER MATERIAL CHANGED OVER THE YEARS - Stihl kept one part number but the filter medium moved from wire mesh on the earliest saws to a flocked nylon and then to a woven fleece. The filter supplied is the fleece type and it covers the whole production run. Fit it dry. This is not an oiled filter and oiling it will restrict it.
- DO THESE THREE IN THE RIGHT ORDER - Pull the old fuel filter out through the filler with a bent wire and check the fuel line while it is out, because a hardened line cracks at the tank grommet and leans the saw out the same way a blocked filter does. Blow the housing clean before the new element goes in. Gap the plug before fitting rather than trusting the box, and do not confuse plug gap with point gap: the points on an 031 set at .014 to .016 inch, a different adjustment.
