A rebuild kit for the Kohler KT17, M18, MV16 and MV18, the 16 to 18 HP cast-iron twin-cylinder engines, horizontal shaft (KT17, M18) and vertical shaft (MV16, MV18). The kit contains two 79.4mm (3.125 inch) standard pistons with wrist pins and circlips, two ring sets, a 24-piece gasket set, crankshaft seals and intake valve seals. Connecting rods, valves and bearings are not included. It replaces piston 52-874-11-S, ring set 52-108-09-S and gasket set 25-755-37-S. These are standard-size pistons; a cylinder that has been bored needs .010 or .020 oversize pistons, so measure the bore or check the old pistons before ordering. Read the model and spec number on the engine to confirm the fit. Before assembly, check each bore for taper and out of round, check ring end gap and groove side clearance, set the valve clearance, and tighten the heads in the sequence and to the torque in the service manual.
