Intake Valve Compatible With Kohler CH23, CH25, CH26, CH740 CH742 CH750, CH18, CH20, CH22, SV840 Replaces Part # 24-017-01-S
- ONE STANDARD INTAKE VALVE - This is one valve, replacing Kohler 24-017-01-S. Kohler's twins have two cylinders and therefore two intake valves, so order two if you are doing both heads. There is also a 0.25mm oversize stem version, 24-017-02-S, for a head whose guide has been reamed oversize.
- FITS THE COMMAND AND COMMAND PRO TWINS - CH23, CH25, CH26, CH740 and CH750, together with the vertical shaft CV equivalents. Read the model and spec numbers off the blower housing decal. The matching exhaust valve is 32-016-01-S, which supersedes the older 24-016-01-S, and the valve stem seal is 25-032-14-S.
- INTAKE AND EXHAUST ARE NOT THE SAME PART - Do not fit an intake valve in an exhaust seat. The exhaust valve runs hotter, works harder and usually fails first, which is why they are sold separately. If you are in the head for a burnt exhaust valve, the intake is often still serviceable.
- CHECK THE SEAT AND THE GUIDE BEFORE FITTING - A new valve onto a pitted seat or into a worn guide buys a few hours. Seat and face angle is 45 degrees. Guide inside diameter when new is 7.038 to 7.058mm, with a wear limit of 7.134mm on the intake. Stem to guide clearance on the intake is 0.038 to 0.076mm.
- SETTING IT UP - Lap the valve until the seating ring is even all the way round, then clean every trace of lapping compound out of the port and the guide before assembly. Fit a new stem seal while the head is apart. These engines use hydraulic lifters, so there is no lash to set, but turn the engine over by hand before the first start.
