Ring and gasket kit for the Briggs & Stratton 31-series single-cylinder OHV engines, 16 to 18 HP, at the 90.5mm (3.563 inch) bore. The kit contains piston ring set 594437 and complete engine gasket set 796187, with the head gasket, valve cover gasket, intake and exhaust gaskets and small O-rings. Pistons, connecting rods, valves, wrist pins and circlips are not included: this is for an engine whose pistons are still serviceable. It fits model numbers beginning 31, including 319775, 31A507, 31A607, 31A677, 31A707, 31A777, 31A807, 31C707, 31C777, 31D577, 31E577, 31E607, 31E677, 31E707, 31E777, 31E877, 31G707, 31G777, 31L777, 31N607 to 31N777, 31P607 to 31P777, 31Q505 to 31Q777, 31R507 to 31R977, 31S777, 31S977 and 31U977, and short blocks 592054, 592059 and 592060. It does not fit the 33-series 19 to 21 HP singles (94mm bore, ring set 794126) or the V-twins. 594437 replaced ring sets 699026, 697164, 699051, 791936 and 792506; 796187 replaced gasket sets 794150, 792621 and 697191. Measure the bore and check the ring grooves first, hone lightly, stagger the ring gaps, and follow the service manual for head bolt torque.

FITS BRIGGS & STRATTON 31-SERIES INTEK SINGLES - The 16, 17, 17.5 and 18 HP single-cylinder OHV engines at the 90.5mm (3.563 inch) bore, model numbers beginning 31, such as 31A507, 31A707, 31C707, 31E777, 31N777, 31P777, 31R777 and 319775, and short blocks 592054, 592059 and 592060.
NOT FOR THE 19 TO 21 HP OR THE V-TWINS - The 33-series 19 to 21 HP singles have a 94mm bore and take ring set 794126. V-twins and the small walk-behind engines take different parts. Read the model, type and code on the engine before ordering.
REPLACES 594437 AND 796187 - 594437 replaced the earlier ring sets 699026, 697164, 699051, 791936 and 792506, and 796187 replaced gasket sets 794150, 792621 and 697191.
FOR PISTONS THAT ARE STILL GOOD - Measure the bore for size and taper and check the ring grooves before ordering. Hone lightly, stagger the ring end gaps, check the head for warp and tighten the head bolts in the sequence in the service manual.
