Complete engine overhaul kit for the Briggs & Stratton 44 cubic inch Intek V-twin, 724cc, bore 3.120 inch or 79.25mm. Contains two pistons 792023, two ring sets 792026, two connecting rods 796209, two intake valves 792200, two exhaust valves and a complete gasket set 794152 and 694012, which is everything a full twin rebuild takes. Piston 792023 supersedes the earlier 694003 and 697679, ring set 792026 replaces 793561 and cross-references to 697683, and gasket set 694012 replaces 499889. Fits model numbers 441577, 441677, 441777, 442577, 445577, 445677 and 446577. Identify the engine by the six digit model number stamped on the blower housing rather than by horsepower. The 40 cubic inch V-twin is 656cc with a 2.970 inch bore and uses a different piston, 793647, so the two are not interchangeable. These are standard size parts for cylinders still within service limits. Measure both bores before ordering, and use the .020 oversize piston 792072 if either cylinder has been machined. Hone the cylinders before assembly.
- FITS THE BRIGGS & STRATTON 44 CUBIC INCH INTEK V-TWIN, 724cc, bore 3.120 inch or 79.25mm. Model numbers 441577, 441677, 441777, 442577, 445577, 445677 and 446577. Built around piston 792023, which supersedes the earlier 694003 and 697679. If your engine is smoking, down on compression, or has knocked a rod, this is the set of parts that repair needs.
- CHECK THE MODEL NUMBER, NOT THE HORSEPOWER. This is the single most important line on this listing. The 40 cubic inch V-twin looks identical from the outside and is 656cc with a 2.970 inch bore. It uses a completely different piston, 793647. A 44ci piston in a 40ci block is 3.8mm oversize and will not go in. The six digit model number is stamped on the blower housing.
- IN THE KIT, BY PART NUMBER: two pistons 792023, two ring sets 792026, two connecting rods 796209, two intake valves 792200, two exhaust valves and a complete gasket set 694012. Piston 792023 supersedes 694003 and 697679; ring set 792026 replaces 793561 and cross-references to 697683; gasket set 694012 replaces 499889. That is a whole twin in one box.
- BORE IT OR DON'T. These parts are standard size, for a cylinder still within service limits. Measure both bores before you order. If either has been machined oversize, Briggs lists 792072 at .020 inch and you need that instead. A standard piston in a worn bore burns oil from the first hour.
- WHILE THE ENGINE IS APART. Hone both cylinders so the new rings have a crosshatch to bed into, check the crank journals, and replace the valve cover gaskets and breather while you are in there. Torque head bolts and rod bolts in sequence to your engine manual, and stagger the ring end gaps around each piston.
